Just like Americans, Hispanics also have the tradition of declaring a wish for the New Year. 

What you call it varies depending on the country of origin — some call it a resolution, others a commitment or goal — but the meaning is essentially the same. People want to succeed and advance at work, take care of their health, and most importantly, keep the family united.

We spoke to several members of the immigrant community to get their perspective.
