We’ve heard from South Coast leaders and elected officials, but how do the ordinary people out and about in New Bedford feel about the crisis that unfolded on Martha’s Vineyard and now Cape Cod? More than 50 mostly Venezuelan migrants were flown unannounced to the island by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in protest of what many Republican governors call inadequate border security.
Reporter Eleonora Bianchi roamed the city looking for reaction.
“It’s just cruel, brutal, stupid,” said Stephan Becker, a New Bedford resident. “You should gather information, gather facts, find out what’s best for our country and do that. It’s not something you have to have a temper tantrum about or pull a stunt. What the governor of Florida did was just a political stunt and people suffered for it of course.”
