Mayor Jon Mitchell joined The Chat with Light columnist Jack Spillane for a summer edition of the State of the City.
The mayor’s third appearance on the show came on the heels of his pushback against the Trump administration’s Department of Justice requesting voter records. He also discussed the recent surge in the number of unhoused in the city, particularly at Custom House Park. He said the ambitious riverwalk will open access to the Acushnet River and could spark development in the North End. And the mayor touted the Herman Melville statue to be dedicated on Friday.
