The Southcoast Artists Index Salon Series — Art, Heart, and Soul: Cultivating Empathy

The Southcoast Artists Index will present its next Salon Series event on May 13 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at The Launch at Moby Dick Brewing Company in New Bedford.
Artist, practicing art therapist, and professor Jane Ferris Richardson will lead “Art, Heart, and Soul: Cultivating Empathy.” The free workshop explores reaching inward before responding through art, with a focus on self-discovery, expression, and creative process.
Participants will learn how making and experiencing art builds insight and connects to personal insight. The session showcases the role of images, materials, and process in forming meaning and understanding.
The Salon Series is a curated program of professional-led workshops for local artists. Topics include fine art, digital tools, professional practice, and creative resources. Sessions also encourage conversation and community building.
The program is funded in part by the New Bedford Cultural Council and the Mass Cultural Council.
