Hauling Back Generational Fishing Family Project Showcase

Photographer Phil Mello and videographer Markham Starr share insights from the Hauling Back Generational Fishing Family Project. The ongoing effort documents multigenerational fishing families and businesses across New Bedford and the South Coast. Short films from the project will be screened, along with stories behind the work.

Featured families include the Pasquill family of Turk’s Seafood in Mattapoisett, the Enoksen family of Eastern Fisheries, the Bendiksen family of Reidar’s Manufacturing, and the Nanfelt family of Kyler Seafood.

Interviews, photographs and recordings created through the project will become part of the center’s archive and will be shared through the NOAA Voices digital collection.
