Author Book Talk: Dr. Marla R. Miller

April 30 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

A free virtual program with historian Marla R. Miller takes place Thursday, April 30, from noon to 1 p.m. Registration is required.

Miller is a distinguished professor of history at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her work focuses on women’s labor before industrialization. The Needle’s Eye won a national award. “Betsy Ross and the Making of America” was a Cundill Prize finalist and named a Washington Post Best Book.

The talk centers on Entangled Lives. The book follows women’s work in late 18th-century Hadley, Massachusetts. It looks at daily life across race and class, from domestic service to skilled trades. Stories show both limits and opportunities, and connect local lives to broader economic change.
