Once again, Jack Spillane of the New Bedford Light, has written an important article that sheds light on the travesty of justice that just took place in our neighboring town of Dartmouth.
I want to thank Mr. Spillane for his ongoing, in-depth coverage of the salient issues around the campaign to keep the “Dartmouth Indian logo.”
I also want to thank Dr. Shannon Jenkins for getting at the root of this issue in the broader context. She walks the walk, not just talks the talk.
In this School Committee vote, we see yet another example of bully politics — complete with threats, harassment and personal attacks, against anyone who might oppose them, regardless of the strong evidence that is presented in that opposition.
I was taught early that one need only to observe the demeanor and tactics of a person or group to reveal their underlying motives.
The forces behind keeping the “Dartmouth Indian logo” have consistently behaved in a mean-spirited, bullying manner that reveals who they are and what motivates them.
If this campaign is any indicator of what’s to come, the community is going to need a lot more people of courage like Dr. Jenkins.
