Movies at the MAC Common Threads: Stories from the Quilt

In conjunction with the DATMA/MA exhibition, Being Seen: C”elebrating Pride in the SouthCoast.” This special film screening honors lives lost to AIDS and the power of activism.
The screening is on Wednesday, Feb. 11. Admission is $5.
The film explores the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt, a handmade monument that transformed grief into action. Winner of the Academy Award for best documentary feature, it centers on human stories often hidden by statistics. An all-vocal score by Bobby McFerrin adds to its emotional impact.
Through a wide range of voices, the film examines the communities affected by HIV/AIDS. It also confronts stigma, misinformation, and political failure that deepened the crisis.
