Common Waters: Once Removed, Always Returning Susan Darwin & Lou Schellenberg

Evoking the pull of ocean tides, the new exhibition “Common Waters: Once Removed, Always Returning” opens March 21 at the Marion Art Center. The show features paintings by Lou Schellenberg and Susan Darwin and runs through April 17. An opening reception is scheduled Saturday, March 21, from 3 to 5 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
Each artist occupies a floor of the gallery, displaying colorful paintings inspired by places they know or visit. As cousins, both share family ties to Buzzards Bay.
Darwin’s 10 Year Location Series, begun in 2020, features 20 paintings annually, each exploring a different place and its impact.
Schellenberg’s landscapes capture decades along the Northeast coast, blending observation and imagination in simple building views.
