The Cape Verdean Recognition Committee will host a Cape Verdean flag-raising ceremony from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 29, on the steps of New Bedford City Hall. A block party will follow the ceremony from 7 to 8 p.m. Entertainment continues afterward at the Bisca Club, 161 Acushnet Ave., with music and refreshments.

Celebrate Cape Verdean Weekend with an old school R&B dance party featuring DJ Mark Dias on Friday, July 3, at The Vault. White attire is encouraged. Music begins at 8 p.m. Advance tickets are $10. Admission is $15 at the door. This is a 21+ event with a valid ID.
Cape Verdean Recognition Week concludes Sunday, July 5, with the 54th Cape Verdean Recognition Parade and Kultura Festa in New Bedford. Kultura Festa begins at 11 a.m. at Serenity Gardens, featuring music, food vendors, cultural attractions, and other activities. The parade follows at noon, traveling along Union Street to the Cape Verdean Veterans Memorial Hall.
Music from the 1980s through today will be featured at The Vault on Sunday, July 5, during Cape Verdean Weekend. Edward Blendz leads a lineup of DJs playing in two rooms. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is $15. Guests must be 21 or older with a valid ID.
