Westend Neighborway cookout and (optional) ride
SouthCoast Places for People will host a free neighborhood cookout on Saturday, Aug. 29, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. The festivities include a wine tasting at Coastal Provisions and an optional ride along the proposed West End Neighborway.
The planned route would create a safer walking and biking connection between the West End and Buttonwood Park. Guests can meet neighbors, learn about the project, and share feedback on the proposed route.
With support from an AARP Livable Communities grant, the group is moving ahead with a pilot safe crossing at Rockdale Avenue and other low-cost street improvements.
Food from the grill will be served while organizers discuss the next steps for the project.
