WAG 3rd Invitational Photography Show

The Westport Art Group will host its third annual Invitational Photography Show from Sept. 11 to Sept. 28 at its gallery. The show is open Thursday through Sunday and admission is free.

This year’s exhibit brings together 84 works from 29 photographers, the largest number of participants since the event began. The images on view reflect a variety of subjects, styles and techniques.

The four co-chairs, Carolyn Edwards, Susan Montgomery, Lori Myles and David Pichette, reviewed several hundred submissions before selecting the final group of artists. Their goal was to highlight the range of photography in the region and to encourage both practicing photographers and those with an interest in the medium.

Along with the exhibit, the show will feature two receptions and evening programs. A 3D slide show and demonstration is planned for Saturday, Sept. 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. A moderated panel of photographers will follow a week later on Sept. 27 from 5 to 6 p.m. Visitors will also have a chance to vote for a People’s Choice Award, which will be announced at the closing reception.

The opening reception will be Thursday, Sept. 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. The closing reception is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 28, from 3 to 5 p.m.
