Tide Portal Mural Unveiling
Tide Portal Mural Unveiling is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 19, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Davol Street overpass across from The Cove Restaurant. This event marks the unveiling of “Tide Portal,” a large-scale mural by artist Lena McCarthy.
The mural draws on Fall River’s waterfront, wildlife and textile history, with images of migratory birds, whales and flowing thread woven throughout the design. The unveiling also features live music by the Buttonwood Brass Band, light refreshments, remarks from project partners and a Q&A with the artist.
Tide Portal was made possible through support from the City of Fall River and Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Asphalt Art Initiative, a program that helps cities use art to create safer, more vibrant public spaces.
