“The Jump” screening at New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park

The New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park will host a free screening of the 2020 documentary “The Jump” on Friday, Oct. 16, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at 33 William St. Admission is free.
The film tells the true story of Simas Kudirka, a Lithuanian radio operator who jumped from a Soviet factory ship onto a U.S. Coast Guard vessel off Martha’s Vineyard in 1970 in a desperate attempt to escape to freedom.
