Special City Council Meeting

A special meeting of the New Bedford City Council is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers at 133 William St.
Councilors will organize for the 2026 term, including the election of a City Council president and president pro tem. The council will also draw seats, if required, and formally organize following the swearing in of elected officials.
Several appointments and reappointments are on the agenda. These include assistant city solicitors, legislative counsel to the City Council, and merchandise weighers for the 2026 calendar year.
The Election Commission will report the results of the 2026 municipal election as part of the organizational process.
