South Coast Chamber Music Series: Story Time

Kenji Bunch’s “Hard Winter Holler and Stomp” is a fresh take on Appalachian fiddling and string band traditions, while Cristopor Najarian’s “A Tale for Two Violins” draws on Turkish, Armenian, and Middle Eastern folk melodies to mark the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide. Gabriel Fauré’s “Piano Quartet No. 1 in C minor,” Op. 15 follows with lyricism and depth, and Billy Mayerl’s “Marigold”brings the program to a close with jazzy charm and a sense of joy.
