South Coast Chamber Music Series: Rach’ n Soul

South Coast Chamber Music Series opens its season with “Rach’ n Soul” on Saturday, Oct. 4, and Sunday, Oct. 5. Both concerts begin at 3 p.m.

The program begins with “Saans” (Breath) by Indian American composer Reena Esmail. The piece blends Indian and Western classical styles in a lyrical, expressive way. Rachmaninoff’s Sonata for Piano and Cello in G Minor follows, known for its emotional depth and rich melodies.

Mozart’s String Quartet No. 19 in C Major, often referred to as the “Dissonance” quartet, concludes the program with elegance and inventiveness.

Performers are EmmaLee Holmes-Hicks and Theo Ramsey on violin, Anna Griffis on viola, Leo Eguchi on cello, and Janice Weber on piano.
