Sign up for South End Compost Bin Day by Aug. 8

NEW BEDFORD — The South End Compost Bin Day for New Bedford and Dartmouth residents will be held Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the New Bedford Wastewater Treatment Facility in Fort Taber Park.

Participation in the event is by appointment only.  Sign up is required by Friday, Aug. 8. No walk-ins.

Compost Bin Day is organized by the Greater New Bedford Regional Refuse Management District. Backyard compost bins will be available at a reduced cost for New Bedford and Dartmouth residents looking to divert food waste from the trash. Composting turns fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, eggshells, and yard waste into nutrient-rich soil amendment.

Delivery of compost bins is also available for residents without transportation.
