Sailing into Oblivion: 271 Days Alone at Sea

Captain Jerome Rand shares the story of his 271-day, nonstop solo voyage around the world during the New Bedford Whaling Museum’s Sailors’ Series on Thursday, Aug. 6. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The lecture runs from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by a light reception and book signing.

Tickets are $25 for the public and $12.50 for museum members.

Rand sailed nearly 30,000 miles aboard the Mighty Sparrow, facing violent storms, equipment failures and months of isolation without setting foot on land.
