Roger Valcourt Outstanding Citizen Dinner Honoring Anthony R. Sapienza

One SouthCoast Chamber will give its Roger Valcourt Outstanding Citizen Award to Anthony R. Sapienza, at a dinner on Wednesday, Sept. 10.

Sapienza e is a retired CEO known for his contributions to the men’s apparel industry.  He led the Joseph Abboud brand during a crucial growth phase at JA Apparel Corp. This effort culminated in the $95 million acquisition of the brand by The Men’s Wearhouse in 2013.

Before that, he managed operations at Joseph Abboud Manufacturing Corp. in New Bedford. There, he oversaw the production of premium menswear.

Sapienza has also served on the board of the New Bedford Light. He chaired the Greater New Bedford Workforce Investment Board and the Massachusetts Jobs Council.

His contributions have earned him multiple honors. These include the SouthCoast Chamber’s Community Leadership Award and the SouthCoast Media Group’s Businessperson of the Year.
