Pumpkins and Cornstalks Recycling/Compost

Greater New Bedford Regional Refuse Management is reminding residents to keep pumpkins and cornstalks out of the trash this season. They can be left out for yard waste pickup, dropped off at the Recycling Center, or composted at home.
Unpainted pumpkins and cornstalks are accepted with leaves and grass on the weekday after regular trash collection. They can also be brought to the Recycling Center on Shawmut Avenue, open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Residents can compost pumpkins and cornstalks in backyard bins with other food scraps and yard waste. Compost bins are available for $25 at the Crapo Hill Landfill scale house on Samuel Barnet Boulevard.
