Prudence Cummings Wright: Minutewoman
March 21 @ 2:00 pm

Historian Eleanor Gavazzi will discuss Revolutionary War patriot Prudence Cummings Wright on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the Dartmouth Historical & Arts Society. Suggested donation is $5. Light refreshments will be served.
Gavazzi, a former regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution, has portrayed Wright in interpretive costume for more than 30 years. The program recounts Wright’s 1775 stand guarding a bridge in defense of colonial freedom.
Born Nov. 26, 1740, in Dunstable, now Hollis, Wright was educated at a time when few women were. Gavazzi also serves as a commissioner of the Old Burying Ground in Groton and researches Revolutionary War patriots.
