Opening Reception for the Exhibition & Artist’s Talk

A complimentary reception opens on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m. for the exhibition “Unraveling the Revolutionary Journey of William Rotch Sr.” at the RJD. The show includes twenty prints from the graphic novel “Quaker, Whaler, Traitor, Spy! The Trials of William Rotch” by Dr. Sarah Crabtree and illustrator Melissa “Sawhand” Philley. Philley will speak about her work at 6:30 p.m.

William Rotch Sr. was charged with treason four times by three governments from 1775 to 1795. A Quaker who opposed wars for independence and empire, his life spans public success, secret alliances, and a reckoning with labels.
