New Bedford Science Café

June 2 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
New Bedford Science Café is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Last Round Bar & Grille. Admission is free. Guests pay for food and drinks. Free parking is available behind the building.
Dr. Marc Kuchner leads the talk. He is an astrophysicist and NASA’s citizen science officer. His presentation is titled “Forty Ways You Can Do NASA Science — Or, How I Almost Went to Jail.” He will explain how the public can join real research.
NASA supports more than 40 citizen science teams. Volunteers analyze spacecraft data. They have helped find most known comets, hundreds of exoplanets, and a new type of aurora. Kuchner will discuss the challenges behind this work and how it grew.
The program also covers ways to join current projects. Videos of past Science Café talks are available on the group’s website.
