New Bedford Science Café

Robert Hellström, Ph.D., professor of geography at Bridgewater State University, will speak on “Micro-Climates: How Climate Change is Influencing Local Weather.” He will explain how landscapes create localized climates, shaping wind patterns, flooding, and other conditions in coastal communities.
Hellström has studied micro-climates from Harvard Forest to the Peruvian Andes and is currently working with New Bedford students to install a weather station. He believes engaging youth in science encourages community awareness and action.
Free parking is available behind the building.
