New Bedford Fireworks and a Summer Sound Series

Fireworks and a Summer Sound Series double-header will highlight New Bedford’s NB250 celebration on July 3.
A special edition of the Summer Sound Series begins at 6 p.m. on Purchase Street with performances by Morrissey Boulevard and Autumn Drive. The free concert is part of the city’s observance of America’s 250th anniversary.
Cirque de Light performers will be on board during the show. The group features juggling and hula-hoop acts. Families can visit the New Bedford Art Museum’s ArtMobile and nearby restaurants and bars . Free parking will be available at the YMCA, Elm Street, and Zeiterion garages.
Concerts end at 8:30 p.m., followed by the annual fireworks display over New Bedford Harbor at 9 p.m. The show will be synchronized to a patriotic soundtrack broadcast on downtown speakers. Listeners outside the area can tune in on WBSM 1420 AM or 99.5 FM.
Mayor Jon Mitchell encouraged residents and visitors to arrive early and spend time downtown, noting the fireworks as a longstanding summer tradition that draws crowds from across Greater New Bedford.
The 2026 Summer Sound Series opens June 26, weather permitting, with NB Rude Boys and The Secret City All Stars performing on Union Street at 6:30 p.m.
