New Bedford Conservation Commission meeting at the Brooklawn Senior Center

August 18 @ 6:30 pm
The New Bedford Conservation Commission meets Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 6:30 p.m. at the Brooklawn Senior Center.
Commissioners will consider a request to extend an Order of Conditions for work at East Beach Pier, also known as Monkey’s Island.
A continued hearing will focus on the first phase of a proposed multiuse public access trail along the Acushnet River. The project would run through several riverfront parcels.
New hearings include a proposal to build a fenced communications facility on Duchaine Boulevard. Plans call for a 180-foot tower, equipment shelter, generator extension and three antennas. City officials say the tower would support communications for police, fire and emergency medical services.
Commissioners will also review plans for a five-story, 72-unit apartment building on Braley Road. The project includes parking and utilities within a wetlands buffer zone.
The commission will also consider minutes from its Aug. 4 meeting. Its next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 6:30 p.m. at the Brooklawn Senior Center.
