New Bedford City Council meeting

The New Bedford City Council meets at 7 p.m. with an opening prayer and the pledge.

Public hearings are scheduled for Verizon New England projects on County Street and Phillips Road.

The mayor submitted several appointments, including one to the Veterans Advisory Board and multiple constable appointments.

New business includes proposed loan orders for school repair projects, a feasibility study for Trinity Day Academy, and adoption of the 2025 Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan.

Councillors will also review motions on tree-planting policy, hazardous-waste safeguards, traffic-safety legislation, and naming a new South End elementary school in honor of Bruce Oliveira.

Consent items include citations, a street closing for AHA Night NB Festive, approval of an illuminated sign on Brock Avenue, and receipt of board meeting minutes.
