Mirror Day Clean Up

The first Mirror Day Clean Up will be on Tuesday, Sept. 9.

AHA! will partner with sixth grade students and teachers from Nativity Preparatory School for a community clean-up beginning at 1 p.m. in the school lobby. The group will collect litter across several blocks between County Street and MacArthur Drive while also identifying potential sites for future Mirror Day projects. The effort is expected to run until 2:30 p.m.

Each month, a group of volunteers will come together to collect litter, clean sidewalks, and help keep downtown New Bedford beautiful. While individuals are encouraged to contribute on any day, coordinated group efforts happen on Mirror Days.

A Mirror Day occurs when the number of the day matches the number of the month, such as Sept. 9, Oct. 10 and Nov. 11.

Community members who cannot join the group are invited to take part on their own by tidying their corner of the city. Small acts such as sweeping sidewalks, watering plants, or planting something new all contribute to a cleaner and more vibrant New Bedford.
