Linoleum block-cut printing: non-press printing workshop

August 16 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

This workshop is an introduction to the basic methods and procedures of linocut printmaking on Sunday, Aug. 16 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. The fee is $55.

Students will begin with an original monochrome drawing and transfer a tracing onto a linoleum block. They will then hand-carve the image before applying ink and printing it onto paper. Each participant will complete an edition of four prints using nontoxic water-soluble inks.

Before the workshop, the class should prepare a one-color or black-and-white image on paper measuring 4 by 6 inches. Images may be vertical or horizontal and can be a drawing, photocopy, or photograph. Students may bring more than one image, and the instructor can help decide which will work best for the process.

Materials are included, including a linoleum block, cutters, inks, brayers, rollers, paper, envelopes, and other tools needed to complete the project.
