Learn the art of Sashiko mending
The Art of Sashiko workshop will take place Saturday, Oct. 3, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Students will learn the traditional Japanese stitching technique used for generations to strengthen worn fabric, repair textiles, and extend the life of cherished items.
This hands-on workshop will cover the basics of Sashiko while participants create their own stitched sampler and learn about the cultural history of the mending tradition.
Participants may bring a clothing item they would like to repair or personalize. No experience is necessary. All skill levels are welcome, and we will provide mending supplies.
Registration is required, and space is limited.
