Knife Sharpening & Fabric Dyeing Workshop

Fix It Forward is back on Tuesday, April 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Church, 169 Belleville Road in New Bedford. Registration is required.
The workshop teaches simple ways to repair and reuse at home. One session covers fabric dyeing, with an introduction to natural and synthetic dyes. Attendees can bring a pre-washed clothing item or a small piece of fabric to try.
A second session focuses on knife care and sharpening. Instruction includes how to sharpen kitchen knives and scissors, along with tips for storage. Attendees can bring up to five items. Registration is not required.
Two knife sharpening kits will be given away.
Fix It Forward is a series centered on repair and reuse. The program is presented in partnership with the Greater New Bedford Regional Refuse Management District, New Bedford Free Public Library, and the city’s Department of Community Services. Support also comes in part from the Art is Everywhere grant through the city’s Arts, Culture and Tourism Fund, with facilitation by New Bedford Creative at the New Bedford Economic Development Council.
