Heidi Whitman In-Gallery Artist Talk

Join artist Heidi Whitman for an in-gallery talk on Sunday, April 26, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the New Bedford Whaling Museum. Museum admission applies.
She will discuss her installation, “Ahab’s Head: American Vengeance,” on view through May 3, 2026. The work draws on Moby-Dick and reflects about themes of obsession, dread, and violence.
Sculptural forms of rope and fabric casts shadows across drawn charts of imagined voyages. Large assemblages reference Ahab, the whale, and the destruction of the Pequod. A soundscape and objects from the museum collection place visitors at the center of the story.
