Fall River Symphony Orchestra Winter Concert

The Greater Fall River Symphony Orchestra’s Winter Concert is at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Jackson Auditorium at the BCC Fall River campus. Doors open at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets are $25 for adults. Children and students with ID are admitted free of charge. The orchestra participates in the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s Card to Culture program, offering free admission to eligible participants. Tickets are available online and at the door.
The orchestra is conducted by Ray Daniels. Musicians come from Greater Fall River and nearby communities in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
The program includes Leichte Kavallerie by Franz von Suppé; Piano Concerto in D minor (1934) by Florence Price, featuring pianist Janice Weber; and El Sombrero de tres Picos by Manuel de Falla.
A highlight of the afternoon is Price’s piano concerto. Price was the first African American woman to gain national recognition as a symphonic composer and the first to have a work performed by a major orchestra.
