Dock-u-mentary Film Screening: Striker’s Passing

“Striker’s Passing” is a documentary by filmmaker Jeremy Mayhew about New England harpoon swordfishermen and their struggle in a modern fishing industry. The film follows Captain Gregory Mayhew and his crew from Menemsha to New Bedford and out to Georges Bank. It combines family interviews, scenes at sea, and natural sound to portray a way of life at risk.

The film will screen as part of the free Dock-u-mentaries series at the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park auditorium, on Friday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m.
