Dartmouth’s Christmas Tree Collection Options

January 5 - January 16

Dartmouth residents have several options for disposing of Christmas trees, wreaths, and holiday greenery after the season ends.

Real Christmas Trees

Real trees are chipped and reused as cover at the Crapo Hill Landfill. Trees must be free of ornaments, lights, stands, tinsel, and plastic bags.
SMART Program participants may place trees curbside on their regular trash day during the weeks of Jan. 5 and Jan. 12. Collection begins at 7 a.m. Pickup may change due to the weather.
Trees may also be dropped off at the brush area of the Department of Public Works and Water Pollution Control Facility at 759 Russells Mills Rd. A permit is required.
The site is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. The facility is closed on Wednesdays.
Artificial Trees and Wreaths
Artificial trees and wreaths may be reused, shared, or discarded.
Holiday Collection Schedule
There will be no trash or recycling collection on Dec. 25, 2025, or Jan. 1, 2026. Thursday routes will be collected on Friday during those weeks.

For more information, visit the Dartmouth Recycling Facebook page, the Solid Waste and Recycling Division page on the town website, or call the Department of Public Works at 508-999-0740.
