Cyanotype Sunprint Workshop with Marina Dawn Wells, PhD

A cyanotype photography workshop inspired by the exhibition “Look pleasant, please: Early Portrait Photography in New Bedford” will be held at the New Bedford Whaling Museum on Thursday, July 9. Marina Dawn Wells, the exhibition curator, will lead the session.
Participants will use the historic sunprint process to create blue-and-white prints with natural light and arranged objects. The workshop includes a visit to the exhibition and an opportunity to ask the curator questions.
Check-in begins at 4:30 p.m. and the class starts at 4:45 p.m. in Cuffe Park and will be held outdoors, weather permitting. Materials will be provided. Participants may bring small objects such as leaves, flowers, or keepsakes to include in their prints.
Finished prints can be taken home after the workshop. Participants are also welcome to stay for a free performance by the Toe Jam Puppet Band during AHA! Night.
Admission is $12.50 for museum members and $25 for nonmembers. Advance registration is required. Space is limited.
