City Council Finance Committee meeting
The New Bedford City Council Finance Committee meets Monday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 133 William St. The meeting will be livestreamed and recorded.
Councilors will discuss options for a $3.5 million settlement from the MBTA. The money could be placed in the stabilization fund or a new revolving fund to help pay for future maintenance of the pedestrian bridge under construction across Route 18.
Other agenda items include proposed transfers of $157,791 for school transportation and $395,000 from Zeiterion Theatre supplies to the purchase of services. Members will also consider smaller transfers for the mayor’s office, assessors, and labor relations.
The committee will also review plans to realign Hillman Street near Purchase Street for a new signalized intersection.
