October 16, 2026 - February 15, 2027

“Boundless: The Book as Art” is on display at the New Bedford Whaling Museum’s Wattles Family Gallery through Feb. 15, 2027.
Featuring historic publications alongside contemporary works by Andrea Dezsö, Melanie Mowinski, Anneli Skaar and Tracey Cockrell, the exhibition explores the relationship between books and art.
Highlights include rare natural history volumes, textile sample books, journals and a 1930 edition of Herman Melville’s “Moby-Dick” illustrated by Rockwell Kent. Many items are on public display for the first time.
Visitors can also explore traditional bookmaking techniques, including printing, illustration, typography, and bookbinding.
