Appointments & Briefings Committee meeting

The New Bedford City Council’s Appointments & Briefings Committee will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025, at 7 p.m. in Room 214 at City Hall.

Agenda highlights include a 30 minute citizen’s input period. Chris Lamontagne plans to offer public comment on rat infestation and city transparency.

A public hearing is scheduled on a special permit application from L and S Transport Inc. The request covers motor vehicle sales, rentals, and repair at 724 Ashley Blvd.

Proposed appointments are also on the agenda. These include Jason Thody as Police Chief and George M. Viveiros to the Board of Park Commissioners.

The council will consider a waiver request from Swift Sales for a junk and second hand license.

A license renewal petition from Gerana’s Transportation Inc. will also be reviewed. The company operates a private livery service.
