AHA! Night: Summer in the Seaport

AHA! Night: Summer in the Seaport turns downtown New Bedford into a playground of live music, art, workshops and free family fun Thursday, Aug. 13 beginning at 4 p.m. . Events continue after dark.
Scallopalooza at the Fishing Heritage Center puts local fishermen to the test in a competition to name New Bedford’s best shucker. Also included are demonstrations, vendors, food trucks and music by Jason Roze.
Redline Band performs in Custom House Square. Eversource will display a bucket truck for children to explore. Sorbae Frozen Treats and Tamani’s Lemonade Stand will offer refreshments.
Other activities include Public Xhibition 37 at Gallery X, garden science at the library and marine life activities with Trustees Mobile Adventures. Visitors can play games, decorate seashells, explore the Seaport Art Walk and hear Tim Ray and Cassandre McKinley during Centre Street Sessions. Reverie Theatre Group will perform “Hamlet” at the Rotch Jones Duff House and Garden Museum. Serlingpa Meditation Center will offer guided meditation.
Also find an exhibition by James and John at Shimmer, jazz at the Verdean Veterans Memorial Hall, and an illustration workshop with Zulay “ZU” Holland Perez at JNSQ. Urban line dancing with Maia Livramento at 3rd EyE Youth Empowerment.
