AHA! Night: NB Cultures

Downtown New Bedford will showcase local cultures at AHA! Night on Thursday, Sept. 10.
At Custom House Square, First People Encounter will host “Somos las Raíces/We Are the Roots” from 4 to 8 p.m. The program will spotlight Indigenous Caribbean, Borikén, Wampanoag, and other Indigenous traditions through music, dance, storytelling, food, and art.
Culture talks are on the lineup for 5 and 6:30 p.m. Bomba de Aquí will perform with guest drummers and dancers at 5:30 p.m. JunnYahh and invited performers will present “The Evolution of Dance Through Afro-Caribbean Cultural Influence” at 7 p.m.
Games, community art and resource tables will also be available throughout the evening. Elsewhere downtown, AHA! Night will include free museum admission, arts activities, live music, the Zeiterion’s Jazz Jam, and AHA! After Dark events after 8 p.m.
