A New England Nutcracker

New Bedford Ballet will present A New England Nutcracker on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. at Keith Middle School. The story is set in 1850s New Bedford and follows Mary through a night of holiday adventure. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for seniors, students, and children ages two to twelve. Children under two are free.

Scenes include a festive party, a battle between mice and soldiers, and a trip through a snowflake to the Land of Sweets. Characters draw from global dance traditions and New England history.

Artistic director Rebecca Waskiel-Marchesseault created this version with choreography by Waskiel-Marchesseault, Pamela Mateus, and Sara Brownell. The hour-long format suits families.
