A Journey through the Roots of American Popular Music

Jon and Li Waterman will perform “A Journey Through the Roots of American Popular Music” on Saturday, April 25, at 2 p.m. at the New Bedford Free Public Library.
The program blends original songs with historical storytelling. It explores people and events that shaped the blues, country, rock and other forms of American popular music. The performance also reflects on how music helps shape cultural identity.
The Waterman’s play throughout New England as part of the series “Live Music Making History Live,” which encourages audiences to explore history through music.
Support for the program comes in part from the New Bedford Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
