But for the article in the New Bedford Light describing the Button Project exhibit at Bristol Community College in Fall River, I would have missed the opportunity to see this in person.
It is an overwhelming experience to view one-and-half million buttons spread out on the floor in an exhibit hall, surrounded by bare walls, save for explanatory information on plaques.
The exhibit is not surrounded by cordoned roping which allows viewers to stand abutting the buttons.
This project was conceived and actualized by collecting one button for each of the one and half million Jewish children murdered by the Nazis during World War II.
At any given moment since the last world war, there have been brutal assaults occurring in too many parts of the world. Reading about the atrocities has never been as stark as the movies, newsreels, or collected clothing and articles from the victims. And this exhibit clearly demonstrates the enormity of this genocidal rampage.
The ultimate goal is to place these buttons into a permanent outdoor monument at the BCC campus, and pursuant to a competition a specific design has been selected.
Perhaps there has never been a more poignant time to bring attention to the barbaric consequences of attacking and purposefully murdering innocent civilians.

Very interesting article.
Unfortunately, the younger generation have little to nil knowledge of the barbaric torture and experimental procedures the children encountered.
Great project to remember and educate all related to this black mark on the World history.
