ReelTalk: “Wilding” at NBAM
More than a movie night, the free program includes pre- and post-film discussions with New Bedford film professor Dr. Mocha J. Herrup. The screening begins Thursday, Sept. 10. at 8 p.m.
Herrup is a senior lecturer in the Communications, Journalism and Media Department at Suffolk University. They are also an award-winning filmmaker and experienced film festival programmer. Herrup holds a doctorate in radio-TV-film from the University of Texas at Austin.
“Wilding” (David Allen, 2024; 75 minutes)
“We can save our world if we want to” is more than a hopeful idea in “Wilding.” The documentary follows the transformation of an English country estate after its owners allow nature to take the lead.
Farmland once shaped by intensive agriculture is turned over to a mix of tame and wild animals. The unconventional conservation project helps restore plants and wildlife to land once heavily treated with chemicals, offering a striking look at what can happen when nature is given room to recover.
