Route 6 Bicycle and Pedestrian Ramp public hearing
September 10 @ 6:00 pm

MassDOT will hold a virtual public design hearing on Thursday, Sept. 10, at 6 p.m. on proposed accessibility improvements connecting westbound Route 6 to MacArthur Drive in New Bedford.
The project would replace the existing concrete stairs with an accessible bicycle-and-pedestrian ramp and a shared-use path. Plans also include lighting, a new section of sidewalk along MacArthur Drive, and drainage improvements. The path and sidewalk would meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.
The existing stairs would close during construction, and delays are expected. No traffic detours are proposed. The hearing will be available through the MassDOT Highway Division events page.
