Tracing Light; Cameraless Photography by Anne Arden McDonald

Tracing Light: Cameraless Photography runs Jan. 30 through March 31, at the UMass Dartmouth CVPA Campus Gallery.
An opening reception is on Tuesday, Feb. 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. An artist talk follows at 5:30 p.m. A snow date is set for Feb. 4.
The closing reception is scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. The artist will be present. All events are free and open to the public.
Anne Arden McDonald creates images without a camera or a negative. She works directly on photographic paper using light, chemistry, and experimental materials. Processes draw on historical methods such as photograms while pushing into new territory.
The exhibition explores circles and spheres as symbols of atoms, planets, growth, and wholeness. Works include large-scale cameraless scrolls, rust-and-bubble experiments, ceramic glazes, and a video offering a behind-the-scenes look at her process.
Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays stay open until 7 p.m. Saturday hours are noon to 4 p.m. The gallery is closed Feb. 16 and March 14 through 21.
