The exhibit is open Thursdays through Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is free.\n\nAn opening reception and champagne toast are on Friday\, June 5\, from 5 to 7 p.m. The closing reception is  Sunday\, June 21\, from 3 to 5 p.m. Artwork from private collections\, historical archives\, and current members will be featured\, showcasing the organization’s history and growth.\n\nFounded in 1956\, the Westport Art Group was the first arts organization in Bristol County. Today\, the group has more than 250 members and supports scholarships\, exhibitions\, workshops\, summer art programs\, and weekly plein air painting sessions.

SUMMARY:Scholarships Available for Westport Art Group's Kids Summer Art Camp
DESCRIPTION:Scholarships remain available for WAGKids Summer Camp sessions in July and August. The program serves children ages 7 to 11 who are entering second grade. Applications are available at www.westportartgroup.com. Deadline is Monday\, June 1. Sessions run July 6 to 10 and Aug. 10 to 14.\n\nWAG’s summer art camps fill quickly. A limited number of spots are reserved for scholarship recipients. Morning sessions focus on hands-on art with a range of themes and materials. Activities include painting\, drawing\, collage\, sculpture\, and printmaking. All materials are provided. Camp meets at the air-conditioned WAG building on Main Road in Westport Point.\n\nSupport for the scholarship program comes in part from the Westport Cultural Council\, a local agency backed by the Helen E. Ellis Charitable Trust and administered by Bank of America.

Additional prizes were provided by sponsors Manchester Interiors and Jeffrey of Westport. \nGermana Rodrigues received Best in Show for “Echoes from Within\,” a watercolor in tunnel-book format with layered detail. \nSusan Czernicka earned second place for “Silently Slipping into the Forest\,” inspired by a visit to her grandmother’s village in western Ukraine and its World War II history. \nChris Page received Best Interpretation of the Theme for “Walking without Stopping\,” a series of four photographs taken in the woods. \nThe exhibit features a range of work tied to the theme of journeys. It remains on view through May 10.
