DESCRIPTION:MassDOT will hold a virtual design public hearing on Tuesday\, Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. on proposed improvements to the intersection of Mount Pleasant Street and Nash Road in New Bedford.\n\nPlans include new traffic and pedestrian signals\, ADA-compliant sidewalks and ramps\, bicycle accommodations\, pavement reconstruction\, updated signs and striping\, improved street lighting\, relocated overhead wires\, and stormwater system improvements.\n\nAccess to nearby residences would be maintained during construction. Temporary lane closures and short-term detours may be required.\n\nThe public may attend through the MassDOT Highway Division events page. SUMMARY:Creative Catalysts exhibition: call for art
DESCRIPTION:Artists sought for Creative Catalysts exhibit through an online call for art. Registration deadline is July 31 at 10 a.m. \nThe exhibition features visual art\, literary arts\, music\, and multimedia work. The theme uses literature as a lens for new perspectives. Artist pairs select a work of literature to guide their process. \nGroundWork Gallery will showcase the exhibition Oct. 3 through Nov. 29. \nThe project showcases a partnership between artists across several media. Registration is open to solo artists or teams. Solo artists are paired with a collaborator. Each artist produces individual work shaped by shared literary inspiration. \nA minimum donation of $20 supports organizing\, curation\, promotion\, and management. Higher contributions are encouraged when possible. Lower-cost donations are accepted based on ability. \nArtists Share sessions in June and July offer brainstorming and project support. The program is supported in part by the New Bedford Cultural Council and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Her work has appeared in publications including The New Yorker\, The Atlantic\, and The Guardian. \n“Black Radical” discusses the life of Boston activist and newspaper editor William Monroe Trotter by tracing his role in Black political activism during the post-Reconstruction era. The award-winning biography connects Trotter’s work to the wider history of Black radicalism in America.

The FY27 round supports Creative Youth Development programs that use arts\, humanities\, and science to connect with young people.
